I've decided to build my family through international adoption. While many people come to this decision after struggles with infertility or because of their sexuality, I simply arrived at this decision based on the staggering number of orphans in the world who need homes. Many of them will never be adopted because they have special needs. In many countries, at the age of 4 these children are transferred to an adult mental institution to live out the remainder of their days. Many of those children die within that first year in the institution, neglected, starving. The same children will THRIVE in families if given the opportunity. I know because I have seen it first-hand. Repeatedly.
I am thrilled to be on this journey at this point in my life, thrilled to be part of the movement that is changing the world, one child at a time.
